Catharine Activists Sweet Charm Home Depot Staff!
St. Catharine, Ontario,
2:00pm E.S.T. 26 May 1999 (FAN) - This afternoon, a handful of sweet-talking St.
Catharine's activsts paid a visit to their local Home Depot store. The event began with
product warning labels being applied to every available piece of merchandise with roots in
an ancient rainforest.

When approached by store
staff, activists smiled sweetly and explained the service they were providing to Home
Depot's customers. For some reason, they were allowed to proceed! As they labelled, they
quietly began a Dead Rainforest Tour, gradually increasing in volume until a whole
entourage of interested customers was learning about Home Depot's complicity with clearcut
logging. Eventually, the store manager approached the group, demanding they leave.
Respectfully and tactfully, he was informed they would be back to continue in their
mission to convince Home Depot to go old-growth free.

The activists moved out
into the parking lot, where every car present was decorated with a flyer describing Home
Depot's support of the destruction of ancient rainforests. Activists in St. Catharine's
report that, after a few hours, decorated cars still sport their eye-catching adornments.
