activists lock down in Home Depot!
London, Ontario, May 26, 1999 (FAN) - This morning, two London, Ontario FAN activists locked down to security gates inside the North London Home Depot, forcing store management to realize that Canadians wont stand for their endorsement of the destruction of the world's precious rainforests. Meanwhile, others distributed educational materials and told consumers the truth about Home Depot's complicity in the destruction, and lead a "Dead Rainforest Tour" inside the store.
London's message to Home Depot during the Canadian Day of Action(Photo courtesy FAN London)A 6'8", 350 lb. security guard (very large man) was dispatched from the South London store, and informed protesters that they were 'banned for life from both London Home Depots'. Three trespass fines were handed out, but Home Depot declined to press charges due to the presence of the media.

The non-violent protesters were shaken, but not injured. The manager was also quoted as saying, "I don't know what these kids are talking about- they're talking about Cedar, which comes from Canada.... Canada doesn't even have any rainforests!" Looks like Home Depot staff could use a few leaflets!

* Check your mutual fund to see if you are unknowingly investing in Home Depot.
