on October 3rd, the FAN Action Van, headed out on the road for its second journey....
last year's target was the Home Depot, and in the end they caved in and made a new policy to phase out old growth on their shelves....
this year the target has broadened, following the chain of destruction, FAN will be taking it to all levels of the forest industry....
to InterFor, the largest destroyer of pristine valleys in BC, to the Ministry of Forests, who hand out tenure to corporations like InterFor, to Revy Hardware, who stock stolen rainforest wood cut down by InterFor....
along the way, the Action Van will be a travelling resource for activists full of gear, climbing equipment, banners, bear suits, radios, digital camera, video cameras, and information about the forests, native sovereignty, direct action, international environmental law, ecoforestry, and other activist resources...Action Van riders will be doing slideshows and workshops in different communities to bring awareness to these issues
activists from across the province will work together to build a stronger network so that our voices will be heard....we are not isolated, but united in action...from the Great Bear Rainforest, to the Slocan, to Melvin Creek, to the Elaho, to Clayoquot, we are struggling to resist the same system of corporate forest destruction....
rise up in solidarity....
and put an end to corporate colonial forestry |
