FAN and other groups are building a national campaign against REVY hardware and its subsidiaries, Revelstoke and Lansing Buildall. You can apply pressure in your local community. If there is a REVY store in your community, do an action against it. Below are some ideas for actions and templates for posters, stickers, a letters to REVY managers, a REVY flier and a REVY briefing packet for activists
Action Ideas:
Dead Rainforest Tour: check out your local REVY store and see what Ancient Rainforest wood they have on their shelves. Get a group of people together and then take a tour of your local store. Using a big megaphone (if you have one) or just talking really loudly, explain to your group and other REVY customers where the wood they see on the shelves is coming from and what is the environmental and social impact of the destruction of the world's rainforests.
Stickers and Posters: using our sticker and poster templates found below (or by make your own) start postering and stickering against REVY. The Product Warning stickers look great on pieces of ancient Western Red Cedar from the Great Bear Rainforest or on that piece of Lauan from the Phillippines. Just make sure you put it on well. For posters make a nice wheat paste from: one part all-purpose flour, one part of sugar. Add enough water to make it into a somewhat thin liquid. Cook for a while until it is nice and thick and goopy. Then just brush on lightposts, REVY doors, sides of buildings etc, slap your poster on, and then brush a little more wheat paste on top for good measure. Your public service announcements will help keep the consumers informed.
Organize a rally at REVY: get a bunch of folks together and organize a rally at your local REVY. Make placards, banners, wear bear costumes, dump a bunch of dead fish on their doorstep (for the salmon that are killed by logging operations in BC), make an urban clearcut and put the stumps in their parking lot, have a parking lot party, have puppet show etc. Just be creative.
Up the Ante: so you really want to shut down REVY. Make them quake in their shoes a little. Up the ante! Lock down to their front doors, make a talkng brief case and lock it to you as well (a brief case sealed shut with a tape player inside playing very loud messages about REVY's rainforest destruction), hang a banner from the ceiling in the store, chain yourself to dead rainforest wood...be creative, use your head, and hope the consequences aren't too bad.
(all these ideas are for entertainment purposes only....really, why would anyone object to the deforestation of the earth....there will be plenty of jobs on a dead planet)
