| PRESS RELEASEApril 2, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FAN AND NUXALK DISMANTLE INTERFOR HELICOPTER LANDING PAD (Bella Coola, British Columbia) Before the holiday weekend, Nuxalk House of Smayusta and Forest Action Network (FAN) volunteers dismantled a helicopter landing pad near Talyu Hotsprings, about 30 km southwest of Bella Coola. ![]() The Hotsprings are one of the Nuxalk Nation?s most important spiritual sites. It is threatened with clearcut logging by International Forest Products (Interfor). Interfor had already flagged the area and built a helicopter landing pad. By dismantling the helipad, Nuxalk Smayusta and FAN are preventing any future clearcutting in the area.
