on April 12, one day after the Day of Action against TD Bank, a fax was sent to FAN from Toronto Dominion Bank stating that the TD total destruction website, TD Banking Away our Future and the TD Kill Rainforests stickers were infringing upon TD's trademark and were libelous
"The Canadian Copyright Act confers upon our client the sole right to reproduce the TD logos or the Chair Design in any material form whatsoever.
As a corporate citizen our client is also entitled to protection against acts which directly or indirectly encourage criminal criminal activity relating to the Bank's property such as trespass and defacing of private property. Our client is also entitled to protection against acts which are defamatory.
We have observed your on-going protests against the Bank, including in respect of your stated April 11, 2001 "DAY OF ACTION" set out on your Internet website "http://www.fanweb.org/td."
We have also been provided with a document which is presented in the form of a Corporate Report and is entitled Banking Away our Future."
